This post has everything you need to know about applying for an Alberta Health Card if you haven’t already. Read this post through if you have already applied for the Alberta Health Card Replacement and still want to know more about it.
The Alberta Health Card
All eligible new and returning citizens of Alberta must sign up for the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP). So, you need to apply for your Alberta personal health care card to get hospital and doctor care that is covered by your insurance.
Alberta health care cards are pieces of government-issued ID that allow eligible residents of the province to access hospital services, medical labs, doctors, some insured dental services, and some covering for podiatrists and optometrists.
The only way to get these services is to go to a qualified medical office with a photo ID and your Alberta health care card. Please make sure you always have this card with you. You might have to pay for the service if you need medical help but don’t show your card.
