Canada Pension Plan (CPP) is a monthly payment scheme for eligible individuals in Canada. There are two types of benefits from the CPP: retirement pensions and disability benefits. Each of these CPP groups has its perks and requirements for who can join. The retirement pension is a taxed benefit that helps people retire by replacing some of their income.

Payment to The Canada Pension Plan
The Canada Pension Plan pays approved people who have made contributions to the plan every month. CPP has two main groups, as was already said. If someone wants to get the CPP Retirement Pension, they must be at least 60 years old and have made at least one legal CPP payment.
To be eligible for the CPP disability benefit, a person must be under 65, have made enough CPP payments, and have a long-term, permanent condition that often makes it impossible for them to do substantially profitable work because of mental or physical impairment. There are also two major parts to the CPP sickness Benefit: the CPP post-retirement sickness benefit and the CPP disability benefit.
Those who want to know if they are eligible for the CPP Disability Benefit can use the official website of the Canadian Government. As long as you meet the requirements to get the CPP, you will get your payment after 7 to 28 days (if you apply online) or 120 days (if you apply by mail or in person at the Service Canada Centre).
However, once the CPP forms are sent or turned in, it could take up to 4 months for the government to make a choice. The full application form and a signed, approved medical report will be used to make the choice. If the officials agree that the applicant has a disease that will kill them, the application will be processed as soon as possible, but no later than 5 working days.
When The CPP Will Pay For Disability
The October 27th payment from the CPP will be the next one. Once this is over, the next CPP payments will be made on November 28 and December 20. The Canadian Government will make changes to the CPP payment dates for 2024 as soon as possible.
Also, the children who depend on the person who is already getting the CPP Disability benefit can get a monthly payment if –
- dependent is under 18 or between 18 and 25 years old and goes to an approved school or university full-time.
- Must be the child of the person who is getting the CPP Disability Benefit.

CPP Payments Go Up
The CPP payouts have been slowly going up since 2019. On the other hand, the CPP Enhancement will only apply to people who work and contribute to the CPP after 2019.
